Watch ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Liam Cunningham Read WTF Fan Theories
Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth, tells Rolling Stone that George R.R. Martin once shared with him a massive secret about the future of the beloved fantasy franchise. And while the Irish actor, obviously, didn’t divulge that spoiler, he did sift through a handful of ridiculous fan theories in a new video.
Cunningham does give some consideration to the first few conjectures such as, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are brother and sister, and Snow is Azor Ahai reborn — but both get tossed in the “bullshit” pile.
From there, the Irish actor grows more incredulous with suggestions that Jaime Lannister has dyslexia, which will aid him in becoming a great fighter again, or that dragonglass is dragon feces. The latter Cunningham rebuts flat-out, saying, “Dragonglass is obsidian … What happens is when a sand gets molten, when it cools down, it turns into black glass — and that’s obsidian.”
In the spirit of ridiculousness, Cunningham even offers his own half baked theory for how he hopes Game of Thrones will end: “The last shot in this show is the Night’s King, on the throne, with his leg over [the arm], sucking on a Cohiba and looking straight down the lens.”
Cunningham does, however, share one minuscule detail Martin gave him regarding who will sit on the Iron Throne when the series concludes. Martin, of course, did not give a name, but he told Cunningham that it would be bittersweet. “Which rules out a couple of things,” Cunningham says, “but not too many.”
