A Thousand Horses Nearly Miss Route 91 Harvest Fest
The Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas was supposed to kick off with A Thousand Horses on Friday. But rather than being on stage in front of 25,000 screaming country fans, they were on the side of the road. . . in the middle of nowhere.
“Our bus broke down on the way here from L.A.,” Michael Hobby told Rolling Stone Country several hours after they were stranded in San Bernardino, California, about an hour east of Los Angeles and three hours away from the Vegas stage.
“We were literally just on the side of the road in the desert,” Zach Brown said. “We had all our gear on the road.”
After a lot of sweat in the middle of the hot desert, the bus was finally fixed and the band was bound for Sin City, just several hours later than anticipated.
“Thank God that Gloriana and Frankie Ballard moved their sets so we could play,” Hobby said. “We almost missed the entire show. They were gracious enough to do that.”
Their troubles were all worth it after they finally got on stage.
“I was trying to take a mental picture because it was pretty bad ass,” Brown said of the Route 91 crowd. “It was pretty epic.”
