Dr. Dre Reveals His ‘Pharmacy’ Beats 1 Premiere Date
One of the biggest exclusives on the newly launched Apple Music was the opening of The Pharmacy, a Beats 1 radio show hosted by Dr. Dre. At last, the Doctor has announced his office hours: The Pharmacy will debut July 4th at 6 p.m. EST. The hour-long program will broadcast new episodes on Beats 1 every other Saturday. DJ Pooh, Eddie Francis and Wyann Vaughn will join Dre in the studio, while DJ Jus Incredible will provide the music.
In addition to scheduling The Pharmacy, Apple Music also revealed that Run the Jewels will also host their own weekly Beats 1 show called WRTJ. That program will air Fridays at 9 p.m. EST and follow El-P and Killer Mike as they travel around the world on their current tour.
Dr. Dre and Run the Jewels are just two of the many artists Apple Music has recruited to host Beats 1 programs. Elton John’s Rocket Hour will blast off July 6th at 9 p.m. EST, while Josh Homme’s Alligator Hour, Pharrell Williams’ OTHERtone and A-Trak’s Day Off Radio will also broadcast on July 5th. Drake, St. Vincent, Ellie Goulding, Q-Tip, Jaden Smith will also serve as guest DJs on Beats 1 with their own shows. The station also boasts taste-making DJs Zane Lowe, Ebro Darden and Julie Adenuga.
In addition to The Pharmacy, the G-Funk extraordinaire and Beats Music mogul allowed Apple Music access to The Chronic, making the service the lone supplier of that 1992 LP and ending a long streaming hiatus for that album.
