Watch Conor McGregor Crash a Fan’s Apartment
Though he owns a flame-throwing Lamborghini, openly mulls purchasing chimpanzees and nearly appeared on currency, Conor McGregor remains a man of the people.
Earlier this week, while cruising around Los Angeles, McGregor – who fights Nate Diaz on Saturday night at UFC 196 – spotted a cardboard cutout of himself with the Irish flag draped all over it on some dude’s balcony. McGregor said he had seen it a couple of times on his way to the gym, and once he saw the man responsible for the setup hanging out on his balcony, he shouted from his car that he’d visit him the following day.
And that’s just what he did.
McGregor stopped by the fan’s apartment, where they exchanged maniacal laughs, took in a view from the balcony and geeked out over a customized pair of McGregor’s signature Reeboks – turns out, not even the UFC champ thought to print the word “Champ” on the back. As you can probably expect, the fan couldn’t believe what was happening, and was basically fighting back tears both during and after the meeting.
“The only thing I can say – and I hope Conor sees this – is that feeling he had with Jose Aldo, when he knocked him out and he became the champ, hands down, that’s what I felt like tonight,” the fan said. “Like, that’s how amazing it was.”
Inspired, McGregor promised to put on a show for his superfan on Saturday night. But based on everything he’s been saying before the fight, it doesn’t sound like there’s too much to look forward to. Not only has McGregor proclaimed that Diaz is scared to face him, he said he’ll rip his opponent’s body to shreds, because it’s got a “soft frame.”
Something tells us at least one fan will be tuning in regardless.
