Watch the Weeknd Bring Out Nicki Minaj on ‘SNL’
The Weeknd served as the musical guest for the Amy Schumer-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live, and the singer had a trio of surprises at the ready for the night of his performance. Before Abel Tesfaye even took the stage, he dropped two remixes for his Beauty Behind the Madness track “The Hills,” one featuring Eminem and another co-starring Nicki Minaj, who then made an unannounced appearance on SNL to perform her fresh take on the current Number One single on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Remember that time I showed up with just panties up in my coat / High heels that was knee high and my legs was gripping that throat / You told me this and I quote / ‘Cause we popped pills and you smoked / You said ‘Your stuff got me strung out, it’s like doing lines of some coke,” Minaj says in her sultry verse on the moody hit, piling on to the drugged-out motif of the Weeknd‘s “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face.” “You the president and I’m Biden / Just slide in ’cause you’re safe / Baby, third base.”
Later in the episode, the Weeknd returned sans Minaj for a robust take on his “Can’t Feel My Face,” the other smash single culled from Beauty Behind the Madness. Recently, “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face” sat Number One and Number Two on the Hot 100; the latter currently sits at Number Four, even though it debuted in June at the Apple Music launch.
Both the Minaj and Eminem remixes were released Saturday night on iTunes as The Hills Remixes. On Slim Shady’s take, the rapper adds two fiery verses to the beginning of the track that tackle drugs, sextapes and duplicitous women. “But it’s time you met the real me / Filthy but wasn’t always / Will be your pill refill / Feeling I’ll still be your addiction / You can touch a prescription but don’t fill me,” Eminem raps. “But tonight we don’t need those pills / Just the effects of each other / But we gonna film cause we want your ex to see,” a play on Ecstasy.
