The Weeknd Sees Chaos Everywhere in Interactive ‘The Hills’ Video
The Weeknd finds himself literally surrounded by chaos in the interactive new video for the Eminem-featuring remix of his hit, “The Hills.”
Made in collaboration with GoPro, the short but meticulously crafted clip allows viewers to pan around the increasingly ridiculous scene that envelops singer Abel Tesfaye as he leaves a venue. While all seems quiet at first, things quickly turn apocalyptic as a nearby car explodes and great balls of fire streak across the night sky.
The clip is packed with Easter eggs, including a flaming skull and a swarm of phoenixes that arise from the wreckage of the blazing vehicle. More buildings burst into flames as projectiles continue to crash from a sky flecked by a geographically questionable aurora borealis, until one final blast envelops the camera in all directions.
The Weeknd dominated the summer pop charts with both “The Hills” and the Max Martin-produced, “Can’t Feel My Face.” The two hits helped propel the Toronto singer’s latest LP, Beauty Behind the Madness to Number One, capping an impressive rise from blog favorite to pop star.
The Weeknd will embark on a North American tour this fall, starting November 3rd with a hometown show at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
