Watch Barack Obama Give Kanye West Political Advice
While Kanye West mulls his own presidential run in 2020, the rapper was on hand to assist in the fundraising efforts of the Democratic National Committee as West joined President Barack Obama at San Francisco’s the Warfield Theatre Saturday morning. The event, which supported the Democratic Hope Fund, promised a musical performance by West, but first Obama warmed up the crowd by doling out some political advice for Kanye 2020. “Do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president,” Obama quipped.
During today’s DNC fundraiser in San Francisco, President Obama offered three pro tips to Kanye West, who recently said he wanted to run for president. Details here: https://abc7ne.ws/1R4grE6CLICK LIKE if this video made you laugh.

“You’re going to hear from a guy who I hear is talking about launching a potential political career. Kanye is thinking about running for… Speaker of the House,” Obama joked to attendees (via ABC7 News). “Couldn’t get any stranger, but in case Kanye’s serious about this whole POTUS thing – or as he calls it, ‘Peezy’ – I do have some advice for him. There’s some stuff I picked up along the way.”
Obama then offered up some presidential knowledge for the rapper. “First of all, you got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show,” Obama continued, a jab at Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “Second important tip: Saying that you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy? That’s what’s known as off-message in politics. You can’t say something like that. A lot of people have lost their congressional seats saying things like that.”
Obama isn’t the only politician to endorse a West presidential campaign in 2020. Republican candidates Donald Trump and Ben Carson have both commented on the rapper’s Oval Office aspirations, with Carson especially complimentary of West.
“He’ll be able to explain things and see if he resonates with the people,” Carson said of Kanye. “I talked to him about the possibility of maybe himself and some of the other people in pop culture doing some music that might be uplifting that might give young women a sense of their value and young men a sense of responsibility. I think it could be a tremendous thing in our society.”
Trump also applauded West. “He’s said very nice things about me in the past … extremely positive things,” the Republican frontrunner told Rolling Stone. “He’s actually a different kind of person than people think. He’s a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday.”
