Disclosure Premiere New Song ‘Echoes’ in BBC Garage Mix
Disclosure hyped their new album, Caracal, Monday morning on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, premiering new song “Echoes” as part of a 25-minute garage mix (via Pitchfork). The synth-heavy track, which the British electronic duo call “the most garage-y one off the new record,” features their own Howard Lawrence on lead vocals. “You made a promise I won’t forget,” he sings. “You were dishonest ever since we met.”
Caracal – a follow-up to the group’s acclaimed 2013 debut LP, Settle – is out September 25th via PMR/Island Records. The promotional rollout has included a four-part music video series, with clips for “Holding On” (featuring Gregory Porter), “Omen” (featuring Sam Smith, their previous collaborator on breakthrough single “Latch”) and “Jaded.” The new album also features guest vocal spots from the Weeknd, Miguel and Lorde, among others.
“[Lorde] turned up on her own, no management or bodyguard,” Howard Lawrence told Rolling Stone. “That’s the most equal collaboration on the record. You can really hear her sound — she has this sassy yet vulnerable thing.”
The album finds Disclosure moving away from the strict club-friendly elements of their debut LP. “There’s not any really club music on this one,” Howard’s brother, Guy Larence, added. “It’s all very club-influenced, because of the beats, but every song is like ‘Latch’ or ‘White Noise’ — a fully structured pop song.”
The group will tour the U.S. this fall, starting September 29th in Los Angeles and running until October 24th at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
