Watch Run the Jewels Perform in Killer Mike’s Barbershop
Before Run the Jewels head out on a summer tour in support of their acclaimed second LP, El-P and Killer Mike hopped on the mic for the latest Jack Daniel’s Uncut Sessions. In this exclusive, unique performance, the duo, along with DJ Trackstar, deliver a biting rendition of the Run the Jewels bonus track “Pew Pew Pew.” The black-and-white video, shot in one take, was filmed at Killer Mike’s Graffitis SWAG barbershop in Atlanta, Georgia.

“There’s not another show right now in hip-hop like us,” El-P says of Run the Jewels’ electric concerts in the below behind-the-scenes clip from the sessions. “It’s the closest thing I’ve seen to a punk aesthetic in hip-hop, in my years of being a rapper,” Killer Mike says. “When we were kids, punk and rap had to play the same clubs, they had to play the same venues because both of them were social outcasts. We want be in your face, we want to be wildin’, the crowd screaming and yelling and wildin’, and then everyone gets out safe and takes care of each other.”
Killer Mike and El-P will hit the road this summer in support of Run the Jewels 2, named Rolling Stone‘s Best Rap Album of 2014. The jaunt includes stops at many of the biggest music festivals in both North America and Europe, including Primavera, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Austin City Limits, Roskilde and Reading and Leeds.
