Steph Curry Takes a Spill, Returns Much to His Mom’s Dismay
The basketball world was left holding its breath on Monday when Stephen Curry, the NBA‘s Most Valuable Player, suffered a scary fall.
Midway through the second quarter of Game 4 between the Warriors and Rockets, Curry wound up in the ugliest of situations when he bit on Trevor Ariza’s shot attempt in transition, upended himself and landed hard, banging his head on the court. The Warriors star was left motionless on the floor as Golden State’s medical staff checked his neck and back.
Curry was diagnosed with a head contusion (his shoulder showing no ill effects from the fall) and his return to the game was questionable. He rejoined the lineup during the third quarter upon completing the NBA’s concussion protocol, much to his mother’s dismay.

Curry uncharacteristically air-balled his first shot attempt upon returning, and played 17 minutes following his awkward tumble. Though the game was never close, he did find his rhythm down the stretch, finishing with 23 points.
“It could’ve been a lot worse,” Curry said after the game, when asked how scary the fall was. “I’ll be fine. They did all the tests and nothing got worse.”
Behind a playoff career-high 45 points from James Harden, the Rockets fought off elimination and won the contest handily, walloping the Dubs 128-115. Golden State will look to close the series Wednesday on ESPN at 9:00 p.m. ET.
