Foo Fighters’ ‘Sonic Highways,’ Taylor Swift Win Creative Arts Emmys
Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder were among the winners at the 2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Saturday night in Los Angeles, with Dave Grohl and company taking home a pair of awards for their HBO docuseries Sonic Highways and Swift scoring her first Emmy.
Sonic Highways won two of its four nominations, earning Emmys in the Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming and Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming categories, with both wins for the travelogue’s Seattle episode. In both categories, Sonic Highways beat out Brett Morgen’s Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, which was winless in all eight of its Creative Emmy nominations.
Unfortunately for Grohl and crew, Sonic Highways lost Outstanding Informational Series or Special to Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Both Grohl and Morgen were defeated by Alex Gibney and his Scientology documentary Going Clear for the Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming Emmy.
Swift scored her first ever Emmy in the Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media Original Interactive Program, which the 1989 singer won for her AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience special. Swift was elated about the win on social media, posting photos of the trophy that was overnight delivered to her:

HBO’s Bessie Smith biopic Bessie scooped up four Emmys including Outstanding Television Movie and Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or Special. Queen Latifah was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie for her portrayal of Smith, but that Emmy won’t be handed out until the main event airs on Fox on September 20th.
