Watch Zendaya, Bryan Cranston Find ‘Neverland’ in New Video
Disney star Zendaya pays tribute to the Broadway musical Finding Neverland with help from Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston and Dancing With the Stars‘s Maksim Chmerkovskiy in the music video for her cover of “Neverland.” The single appears on the compilation Finding Neverland: The Album.
In the clip, Zendaya has difficulty entering a theater late at night where she hopes “to let some stuff out” after having a dream about a song. Cranston shows up, playing a mysterious British man who checks in on the young singer. The door finally opens and in the empty theater, Zendaya performs “Neverland” alone until the act transforms into a full production featuring Chmerkovskiy and choreographer Ian Eastwood (the latter best known for Chance the Rapper’s “Sunday Candy” and Justin Bieber’s Purpose: The Movement clips).
At the end of the song, the stage returns as it was, with Zendaya singing the track on her own. She is not alone, however, as Cranston’s character is watching from the front row with his umbrella in hand. He offers some advice to the performer: “They say that in order to succeed in this business, you need a hook.” He disappears, leaving behind his umbrella.
Finding Neverland: The Album, out now, is a companion piece to the musical with artists — including Nick Jonas, Jennifer Lopez, Ellie Goulding and Christina Aguilera — performing songs from the musical.
