Ringo Starr Reveals New Album, Tour in 2015
Ringo Starr will release a new album and hit the road next year, the former Beatle revealed in a new video uploaded to his YouTube page.
Starr said the LP has been recorded and mixed, and will see release via Universal Records. The as-yet-untitled album will follow up his 2012 effort, Ringo 2012. Though the drummer didn’t say when the album would be released, he teased concert dates in February and March of 2015.
Charming bloke that he is, Starr also thanked fans for supporting his sprawling 2014 trek with his All Starr Band, which featured Toto’s Steve Lukather, Mr. Mister’s Richard Page, original Santana singer Gregg Rolie, Todd Rundgren and drummer Gregg Bissonette.
During a recent chat with Rolling Stone, Starr hinted at the upcoming tour, saying he and his band had a number of North American dates scheduled, as well as a return to South America. He also spoke a bit about the LP while praising his brother-in-law, Joe Walsh.
“I just finished my next record and Joe and I wrote a track and I asked him to come back and play on another track that I wrote with Todd Rundgren,” Starr said. “He’s just the best. If you look at my Twitter site, I keep saying that Joe Walsh is the best.
Next year will be a big one for Starr, who was recently named the recipient of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Award for Musical Excellence. The drummer will receive the award at Cleveland’s Public Hall on April 18th, 2015.
