New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer Features Return of Han Solo
From a pair of hands holding Darth Vader’s mangled helmet to a cadre of re-designed X-Wings flying in formation, the new trailer for J.J. Abrams Star Wars: The Force Awakens offers fans a lot of revamped oldies-but-goodies to look forward to. But nothing captures the spirit of the latest chapter better than the clip’s final moments, when Han Solo himself proclaims to his (and our) favorite Wookiee: “Chewie, we’re home.”
The new clip arrived today to coincide with the beginning of the four-day Star Wars Celebration, taking place in Anaheim, California (the whole thing is being live streamed on the official Star Wars website).
“The Force is strong in my family,” one character narrates, as the clip shows a presumably hooded Luke Skywalker and R2-D2, as well as the ceremonial gifting of a lightsaber to a young Jedi. “My father has it, I have it, my sister has it. You have that power, too.”
The final minute of the new trailer offers a quick-moving montage packed with all sorts of intergalactic action that primarily features the characters played by John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. Among the other highlights are a nefarious looking figure in a cape and chrome helmet wielding a gun, and the Millennium Falcon, once again expertly dodging enemy fire.
The new teaser follows the first Force Awakens trailer, which arrived last November. The new film will feature cast members from the original Star Warsi trilogy, including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, reprising their roles alongside newcomers Boyega, Ridley, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Max von Sydow and Andy Serkis.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18th.
