See Wynonna and the Big Noise’s Stylish ‘Lean On’ Video
For obvious reasons such as her unmistakably bluesy, rafter-rattling voice, Wynonna Judd named her band the Big Noise. The group, which includes drummer (and husband) Cactus Moser, can unquestionably rock out in a style befitting their moniker. However, the first video released from next month’s Wynonna and the Big Noise is a decidedly quiet, contemplative affair.
“Things That I Lean On” was penned by Travis Meadows and Daniel Sanders and features Jason Isbell (unseen in the above clip) on harmony vocals. While Judd didn’t write it, the song is a perfectly suited meditation on the pillars that hold the singer up in her hour of need. Not surprisingly, she sings that her inner strength is found in everything from Psalm 23 to “a little B.B. King when the thrill is gone.”
The 1940s-style look of the clip expounds on the overall theme of the recording project, which the Grammy-nominated vocalist says is “vintage yet modern.”
“It’s a time of going back to the well and starting over,” Wynonna tells Rolling Stone Country. “This album is just going to be the highest of the high to the lowest of the valley-of-the-shadow-of-death sadness. Mournful, raw, primal sounds that come from the guts of music.”
Wynonna and the Big Noise is currently available for pre-order and will be released February 12th on Curb Records.
