Watch Hannibal Buress Stump for Obama’s Third Term
With the 2016 presidential election already a mess, Hannibal Buress took to the streets of Los Angeles to find out if the populace would support Barack Obama if he ran for a third term in a new clip from his Comedy Central show Why?
Of course, Buress didn’t pose the question as a hypothetical, but rather asserted that Obama had issued an executive order allowing him to pull an FDR. He told one surprised interviewee, matter-of-factly, “Obama said ‘Hope’ and ‘Change,’ and so he’s hoping to change it.” Another bare-chested man suggested he’d be a better candidate in 2016, to which Buress replied: “You gotta wear a shirt to be president.”
Quickly, however, the bit became about the other presidential hopefuls, with one pair of women declaring their vehement support for ABH — Anyone But Hillary — though both cringed when Buress suggested Donald Trump or Rick Santorum. “We would choose Justin Bieber over Hillary,” one woman said. “Are you friends with him?” the other asked.
Cut to: Buress’ infamous dismantling of the pop star at a recent Comedy Central roast.
“Umm, nope,” Buress eventually replied.
Elsewhere, Buress schooled a French tourist on who’s the rightful King of New York — Jay Z, not Donald Trump — got an increasingly backhanded compliment about his paunch from another interviewee and wondered whether Michelle Obama could pull off a pair of hot pants. Buress eventually brought the bit back home and handed out homemade Obama 2016 merchandise, including bumper stickers, cocoa butter and kitty litter scoopers.
