D’Angelo and the Vanguard Plot Second Coming Tour
D’Angelo and the Vanguard will hit the road this June in support of their acclaimed 2014 LP Black Messiah. The Second Coming Tour kicks off its 14-date trek June 7th at Oakland, California’s Fox Theatre and travels eastward before concluding June 28th at Sayreville, New Jersey’s Starland Ballroom. D’Angelo’s tour includes a late-night gig June 13th at Bonnaroo plus a June 21st stop at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium. The Vanguard’s touring unit features the singer alongside the Who bassist Pino Palladino, guitarists Jesse Johnson and Isaiah Sharkey, drummer Chris “Daddy” Dave, keyboardist Cleo “Pookie” Sample and vocalists Kendra Foster, Charlie “Red” Middleton and Jermain Holmes.
In February, D’Angelo showcased his Black Messiah onstage at a stunning Apollo Theater show as well as a visit to Saturday Night Live. After that, the singer embarked on a brief European tour before returning stateside for a March 11th gig at New York’s Best Buy Theater and a quick stop at SXSW 2015.
