Hear El-P’s ‘Fantastic Four’ End Credits Song ‘Another Body’
A week after Run the Jewels debuted the first Meow the Jewels track, the duo had another premiere ready for their WRTJ Beats 1 radio show: “Another Body,” El-P‘s contribution to the upcoming blockbuster Fantastic Four. The punishing, epic instrumental, co-produced with Little Shalimar and mixed by Joey Raia, will feature in the end credits of the Marvel reboot, which hits theaters August 7th.
As the rapper tweeted after Fantastic Four director Josh Trank first revealed the “Another Body” news, “My fan 4 piece is definitely not a hip hop beat. more like an homage to one of my biggest influences Philip Glass. but twisted, of course.” “Another Body” does showcase that composer’s distinct, hypnotic use of repetition, which Glass similarly employed in the scores for films like The Hours and “the Qatsi Trilogy.” The five-minute end credits track “will be available for purchase soon in HI FIDELITY SUPER AUDIO FIFELITY SCHMELITY,” the rapper promised.
WRTJ has become must-listen radio for fans of El-P and Killer Mike, as the duo previously premiered “Meowrly” on their July 17th episode. The track is the first off their Meow the Jewels charity album, which takes their Run the Jewels 2 and replaces all the beats with cat samples (including some from Internet celebrity Lil Bub).
On Thursday, El-P tweeted about Meow the Jewels, “We will be announcing an exact date very soon but if all goes right it drops in September.” It was also revealed that Massive Attack would feature on the LP, joining fellow guests Just Blaze, Dan the Automator, Prince Paul, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, Zola Jesus and Alchemist.
