A$AP Rocky Gets Trippy, Hits Laundromat in New Video
A$AP Rocky hits the streets in the kaleidoscopic new video for “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2.” The clip finds the rapper and his crew hitting up a party and dancing on a street corner, interspersed with woozy shots of dark cityscapes. The minimalist track – little more than a squealing synth lead, sub-bass drone and snapping hi-hat/snare – finds A$AP delivering quick-fire rhymes like “Now I gotta let ’em know what’s really trill.”
Toward the end, the video segues into a different visual vignette, which appears to tease an entirely new song. That clip, dedicated to recently deceased A$AP Mob member A$AP Yams, finds the rapper sipping on a 40 ounce at a laundromat, mingling with girls as he walks on top of washing machines. “All I ever wanna do is chill and get shaded,” he flows over the brooding track.
While the rapper hasn’t revealed an official title or release date for his next album, which follows 2013’s Long.Live.A$AP., he did share the LP’s initials (A.L.L.A.) during a recent Tumblr Q&A session. The entertaining event also found A$AP sharing his dream collaboration (Andre 3000), his “favorite rapper as of late” (Vince Staples, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q), his appreciation of pop-rock band Haim (“THEY WERE ON MY FIRST ALBUM, IN LVL, SINGING AT THE END #FLACKODIDITFIRST”), his surprising taste in cartoons (“DRAGON BALL Z IS THE SHIT THO IMMA COME CLEAN”) and a blunt – no pun intended – request for his “ultimate sexual fantasy” (“I JUST WANNA FUK MADONNA OLD ASS B4 I DIE, FEEL ME, CAN U BLAME ME ?”).
