Watch Manny Pacquiao Get Worked Over by Dr. Phil
Dr. Phil is normally seen dispensing tough love and homespun wisdom to Teen Moms and Real Housewives. But he’s just stepped inside the psychological ring with his most formidable patient to date: Manny Pacquiao.
Yes, in a dramatic new session, the good doctor (he actually is a doctor) squares off with the reigning WBO welterweight champion – who will put his title on the line against Floyd Mayweather on May 2 – determined to get to the root of Pacquiao’s “pattern of acting out physically against other people.”
Pac-Man’s answer: “Because I’m being paid millions of millions of millions of millions of dollars.”
It’s difficult to argue with that, and Phil, ever the professional, doesn’t. Instead, he matter-of-factly tells Pacquiao: “You know what? In that case, just go beat the shit out of him.”
Floyd Mayweather might not have laughed at the punch line, but of course, this was all a joke; one set up and executed by Jimmy Kimmel, who premiered the bit Wednesday night on his show. And though the premise doesn’t make a ton of sense, the stars certainly do. Both Dr. Phil and Pacquiao have made memorable appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the past – Phil once took the host to task for his lackluster promotion of his appearances on the program, and Pacquiao previously used the Kimmel stage for an epic karaoke performance of Dan Hill’s 1977 ballad “Sometimes When We Touch.”
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s mega-fight will go down on May 2 in Las Vegas. Ringside seats for the bout sold out months ago, though a select number of tickets – priced from $1,500 – $7,500 – will go on sale through Ticketmaster this afternoon. If you’re planning on watching on pay-per-view, it’ll cost you $100. What would Dr. Phil say about that?
