Watch ‘X-Files’ Revival’s Revealing First Look Video
Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will once again investigate the abnormal, paranormal and extraterrestrial in the upcoming The X-Files revival, and with the much-anticipated series just over a month away, Fox has shared a making-of video that offers up some clues about what the revival holds.
“I can imagine what that must be like for a fan. You see these familiar faces and the familiar cross beams of light coming out of the darkness and hear that soundtrack,” said Gillian Anderson, who plays Agent Dana Scully on the series. The X-Files returns with a two-night event kicking off January 24th.
The first look video provides behind-the-scenes footage and new images of scenes from the X-Files revival as well as reveals the breakdown of the six-episode miniseries: Like the original run of the The X-Files, the revival is divided between “mythology” episodes – shows dedicated to the overarching question about extraterrestrial life and the government’s cover-up of it – and “Monsters of the week,” standalone episodes that don’t tie into the overall plot. The first and sixth episode of the revival will deal in “mythology,” with the middle four featuring “Monsters.”
In addition to reuniting much of The X-Files‘ cast, the revival also roped in many of the writers, producers and directors that worked on the series. “It was really putting the band back together,” creator Chris Carter explained in the first look video. “The people you’re going to see doing these episodes are the people who actually helped to create The X-Files series.”
