Hannibal Buress Talks Cosby-Related Death Threats, Bieber Roast on ‘Kimmel’
It’s weird receiving a death threat from a male bodybuilder/stripper on Facebook, but as comedian Hannibal Buress cracked on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday, it’s even weirder when you have a mutual friend.
Buress brought up this unique threat while chatting with Jimmy Kimmel about the aftermath of his viral stand-up set, which rekindled the controversy surrounding Bill Cosby’s numerous allegations of rape. While Buress steered clear of bringing the comedian down even further, he giddily recounted asking his buddy to tell his friend to stop saying he’s going to kill him.
“I don’t think that’s how killers operate,” Buress continued. “‘Yeah I’m gonna kill Hannibal Buress. First, I’m gonna go to this coffee shop and buy something so they give me the WiFi password. Then I’m sitting down, I’m pulling out my Acer laptop and I’m logging into Facebook. Then I’m searching Hannibal Buress, then I’m spelling Buress correctly, then…'”
Buress also spoke with Kimmel about his bizarre experience at the Comedy Central roast of Justin Bieber over the weekend. Beyond spending three or four weeks thinking of the meanest things to say to somebody, Buress noted it was a trip knowing that others — even Snoop Dogg — were thinking of equally heinous things to say about him.
“I tried out my roast jokes during my stand-up set and they went fine,” Buress added, “but it’s weird when you have to say something about Martha Stewart’s vagina in front of her.”
Buress has been on a comedic tear lately, appearing regularly on Broad City and the cult comedy favorite, The Eric Andre Show. He also has a number of live stand-up dates scheduled for this spring, available on his website, and is currently working on his new Comedy Central show, “Why? With Hannibal Buress.”
