Watch Charli XCX ‘Drop That Kitty’ at MTV Movie Awards
Charli XCX is never afraid of letting things get a little wild for her performances. Outfitted in a zebra-print jumpsuit, the pop star gave a sparkly, spunky performance of “Famous” and “Drop That Kitty’ at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards.
The singer first “crashed the party” with a comically large, inflatable guitar. With lyrics from the chorus flashing behind her on a bright pink screen, XCX hopped around the stage singing the highly infectious track off her 2014 LP Sucker.
As she wrapped up “Famous,” she brought out Ty Dolla $ign and Tinashe, and the trio dove into their cheeky, collaborative single “Drop That Kitty.” Keeping with the animal theme, Tinashe entered the stage through the mouth of a giant cartoon cat and joined a line of back-up dancers, who were all wearing bright pink cat suits.

Earlier, the trio released a 30-second preview of the single’s video via MTV. Ty Dolla $ign promised the site that the forthcoming full clip will be “dance-heavy.” The silly teaser proves to be as feline-heavy as their Movie Awards performance.
Charli dropped the campy and ghoulish clip for “Famous” that poked fun at social media and technology in an absurdist way. The video had been directed by Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! and premiered during the YouTube Music Awards.
Though there are no categories for singles off the soundtracks of the nominated films, the breakout star provided “Boom Clap” as the lead single for Movie of the Year winner The Fault in Our Stars.
