Watch Donald Trump Cause a Stir at the Iowa State Fair
The Iowa State Fair is typically a key campaign stop for presidential candidates during election season, and this year’s fair was no exception, with presidential hopefuls from both the right and the left swinging by to appeal to voters in the critical state and eat meat on sticks.
Donald Trump was there, of course, arriving in typical Trump fashion: in a helicopter emblazoned with his name. Rolling Stone tagged along with the Republican candidate as he addressed the media and crowds of fairgoers, took some excited children on a ride in his chopper and answered questions like, “What would you say to Hillary Clinton if you ran into her at the fair?”
“I’d say hello.”
Next question.
Asked about what mistakes he’s made so far, he says, “I don’t think I’ve made mistakes. Every time somebody says I’ve made a mistake, they do the polls, and my numbers go up.”
“I’m sure I will at some point, but so far, you would have to say it hasn’t turned out badly.”
In this Rolling Stone video dispatch from Des Moines, watch Trump make his way through hoards of supporters, shaking hands, taking selfies and, of course, eating a pork chop on a stick.
“I love you, man! You’re the man!” yells one supporter as Trump goes by.
“I told him to make America great again,” says another, after high-fiving the candidate. “I don’t think he’s got a shadow of a chance of getting the nomination, but god it’s fun to watch him try.”
