Stephen Colbert Launches ‘Lunch With Stephen’ Web Series
Before premiering his run of The Late Show, new host Stephen Colbert has already made great use of the show’s YouTube channel. After posting a few topical, hilarious clips, the former Colbert Report host has debuted a “daily, week-long” series titled Lunch With Stephen.
“I want to get to know my audience just a little bit better,” the comedian said after attempting to take a duck face selfie. “I thought what better way to bond with you guys than over lunch. After all, these days a lot of people eat their lunch alone at their desks watching videos like these.”
In the next scene of the short video, Colbert is sitting in a cubicle excitedly opening his name-labeled brown bag lunch. He notes that he’s only eating “small-sounding foods” in order to lose a few pounds before The Late Show‘s September premiere date. He pulls out a Little Caesar’s pizza, a box of Thin Mints and baby back ribs before reading a note he had written to himself and included in the bag.
Colbert also engages in some lunchtime small talk, talking about his dream of opening a bed and breakfast where the customers never leave, giving relationship advice and getting a little “serious” about finding a bag of money on the train.
Previously, Colbert published videos on the channel showing the host shaving off his beard, discussing Pluto with Neil deGrasse Tyson and mocking dissenting Supreme Court justices following the historic decision regarding marriage equality.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will premiere on September 8th.
