Joe Rogan: A Day (or So) in the Life of UFC’s Funniest Guy
In the new issue of Rolling Stone, comedian, commentator and psychedelic cosmonaut Joe Rogan opens up about his “personal evolution,” a long, strange trip that has seen him rise from the opening act at comedy clubs to – very literally – the top of the food chain.
From humble beginnings, Rogan has built an empire, one that encompasses comedy, a wide-ranging (and wildly popular) podcast, work behind the microphone for UFC and no shortage of social and personal causes. The 48-year-old multi-hyphenate champions everything from the use of psychotropic drugs to the burgeoning “Eat What You Kill” movement, and if there’s an issue he doesn’t have an opinion on, well, we haven’t discovered it just yet.
Still, he’s more than a mere mouthpiece. As writer Erik Hedegaard discovers, Rogan is the rare celeb that seems to work harder the more famous he gets, fueled by a desire to spread his message and steeled by a regimen of exercise, mind expansion, sensory deprivation and really gross blended juices. From his early morning workouts to his late-night comedy sets, Rogan makes use of every minute of the day…and then finds a way to squeeze even more out of each moment.
But don’t take our word for it. While we were working on our feature, Rolling Stone asked Rogan to take us through a typical day in his life – and, not surprisingly, he worked overtime, filming everything over the course of several very busy days that took him from the gym to the sensory deprivation tank to Las Vegas and back…with a couple quick stops at the comedy club thrown in for good measure. Here’s what it’s like to live the life of Rogan.
