Kim Kardashian on Kanye West: ‘There’s No One More Creative’
When Rolling Stone cover star Kim Kardashian married Kanye West in May 2014, it solidified not just a personal relationship between the two stars, but a professional one as well.
“Even if there’s a project that I’m not working on with Kanye, I always get his input,” Kardashian tells Rolling Stone in a video interview at the cover shoot for our new issue. “I was sending him pictures today from the [Rolling Stone photo] shoot and he was sending me back the sweetest messages. I value his opinion. There’s no one more creative in my eyes. There’s no one that gets the relevancy of pop culture [more].”
With all of West’s credited accolades, Kardashian admits there are more projects Kanye contributes to without any recognition. The cover star tells us it was West’s idea for Kardashian to do her book of selfies, with the rapper also creating the book’s layout, giving it a name (Selfish) and connecting his wife to publisher Rizzoli Publications. “He took no credit for it,” Kardashian says. “He’s been really helpful and beneficial for my career; always giving me his opinion, which I really value. . .I don’t really question his opinion. It just seems to work for our relationship.”
But Kardashian admits that insecurity sometimes makes the sharing of opinions on certain topics less than reciprocal. “I always get a little bit more shy on giving my opinion to him just because with music, how can I tell him about music?” she admits. “He loves getting peoples’ opinions. He knows more what he’s talking about than I do, especially when it comes to music. I like to let him do his thing because he knows what he’s doing.”
