Watch Criss Angel Blow Minds, Bend Forks at Foxwoods
Criss Angel and mentalist Banachek took a break from their new showcase, The Supernaturalists, to bend some forks and read the minds of unsuspecting fans wandering around the Foxwoods Resort and Casino.
Rolling Stone followed the pair as they corralled several speechless subjects with the enticing pick-up line, “Can I try something with your mind?” Once safely secluded, Angel assured the cameras that there had been no prior collusion amongst the participants, all of whom were complete strangers. He then introduced Banachek, who opened the private session with a wild feat in which he conjured a secret word from one participant’s mind.
After instructing one participant to think of a word, Banachek had the participant and others join in a semi-circle to mentally transfer the word. After whispering the word to another participant, the mentalist correctly guessed it right: Fantasy.
Minds sufficiently blown, Angel took it upon himself to further scramble his subjects’ heads with a classic bent utensil illusion. But rather than settling for a simple, surreal curve, Angel wobbled the fork back and forth, concentrating all of his mind grapes, until its top snapped off. “If you can visualize success, you can achieve success,” Angel said, before adding to his still dazed participants: “Thank you very much, I hope it was worth your time.”
The Angel-produced Supernaturalists is in the midst of a four-week run at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut, with a world tour scheduled to follow. The show boasts nine top-rated magicians, and features an appearance from Angel via a live feed from Las Vegas. Angel, meanwhile, continues to anchor his own show, BeLIEve, in partnership with Cirque du Soleil at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Ticket and show information is available on Angel’s website.
