Watch Cookie Monster and ‘Sesame Street’ Spoof ‘Avengers’
Avengers: Age of Ultron explodes into movie theaters May 1st, and to celebrate the Marvel blockbuster’s arrival, Sesame Street spoofed the superhero tandem to teach kids about healthy eating and the art of focus. In Aveggies: Age of Bon Bon, an Ultron-inspired baddie plots to turn the world’s vegetables into desserts. The only thing that could stop the villain’s giant chocolate chip cookie spaceship: An enormous, green Cookie Monster-turned-Hulk (via Daily Beast).
The Sesame Street spoof also features plenty of parent-friendly Avengers jokes that might elude younger viewers. “That’s me secret, me always hungry,” Cookie Monster says before transforming into his furry green Hulk, a nod to Bruce Banner’s Avengers quip, “That’s my secret… I’m always angry.” The segment even pokes fun at Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and the marksman’s all-around uselessness within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And like the Avengers post-credit sequence, Cookie Monster suggests the gang get some post-battle shawarma.
The Incredible Hulk graces the cover of Rolling Stone‘s latest issue, and Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon promised the green behemoth would have a more prominent role in the sequel. “ The thing that was great about this time with [Hulk] was that the first time we had to be extremely parsimonious about how much Hulk we had. With this one, we had more leeway, and I got to do what I wanted to do, which was shoot him like a character,” Whedon said. “We have shots in this movie where I just shoot over your shoulder and you have a fuzzy Hulk shoulder in the frame — that would’ve been out of the question before.”
