Diplo and Skrillex Get Trippy, Animated for Jack U Video ‘Take U There’
In September, EDM pioneers Skrillex and Diplo shared “Take Ü There,” the first track from their collaborative venture Jack Ü. On Tuesday, the duo finally unveiled the music video for the cut featuring lead vocals by Kiesza. Directed by Kyle dePinna, Dillon Moore and Daniel Streit, “Take Ü There,” is a riveting, from-the-stage look at Jack Ü’s wild performances complete with trippy animation and plenty of drops.
While the duo have performed together frequently — first at the Mad Decent Block Party in San Diego in September 2013 and next at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival in March of this year — Jack Ü still haven’t delivered on their promise of “doing a mixtape,” but they have ramped up activity in recent months.
Skrillex and Diplo premiered a few new Jack Ü tracks during their many shows at this year’s Burning Man, and the group played a handful of unreleased songs during a visit to BBC Radio 1Xtra, including “Jungle Bae,” “Cumbia Maluca,” “Beats Steady Knockin” and “Febreze” featuring 2 Chainz.
“We’ve got five songs that we made that aren’t even released, and we’ll end up releasing [them] in 2014,” Skrillex previously told In The Mix of Jack Ü. “When we play, our style is so crazy. The sounds Diplo and I make are pretty different, but the energy is so similar. When we’re tag-teaming back-to-back, for me it’s one of the most fun things.” However, Skrillex admitted that Jack Ü will more likely remain a live entity rather than a studio product.
