Courtney Love, Dave Grohl Bonded Over Actress’ Breasts
Courtney Love and Dave Grohl have finally buried the hatchet, thanks to their mutual appreciation for an unnamed actress’ breasts. “The other night, we just started talking about this one actress’ boobs,” the Hole singer shared on Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! “We’d both seen them. At one point, when she was 20, they were the sexiest boobs in Hollywood. He’d seen them; I’d seen them. And we just picked up where we left off after 20 years of suing each other. Isn’t that cool?”
Love’s bad blood with the Foo Fighters frontman once ran deep. In the late Nineties, the two musicians and bassist Krist Novoselic formed a partnership in 1997 to manage Nirvana’s business affairs; in 2001, Love filed a lawsuit seeking to dissolve the company, Nirvana L.L.C., and Grohl and Novoselic followed with their own suit, aiming to remove her from the partnership.
The hostility continued throughout the following decade, though Love and Grohl shared a heavily publicized hug during Nirvana’s April induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And as Love tells Kimmel in the above clip, that reunion embrace was a big step in their reconciliation.
“Dave and me, a lot of people saw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where we ‘hugged it out, man,'” she said. “It was all good. We used to really like each other, and there was 20 years where we sued each other. And then we stopped. . . We’re totally tight. If you can give up a grudge like that — because there was a lot of crap that went on — I think anyone can do it.”
In June, Grohl told The Hollywood Reporter that his hug with Love was sincere. “I saw Courtney walking past [earlier in the night], and I just tapped her on the shoulder and we looked at each other in the eyes and that was it — we’re just family,” he said. “We’ve had a rocky road. We’ve had a bumpy past, but at the end of the day we’re a big family and when we hugged each other, it was a real hug.”
Later in the Kimmel interview, the host asked if Love has ever considered recording with Grohl and Foo Fighters. “I think we have a bit of a different demographic,” she said, after jokingly suggesting she and Grohl tackle a duet cover of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton’s “Islands in the Stream.” Love also talked about living two blocks away from her daughter, Frances Bean, mentioning that the two often meet up to watch Scandal.
