Morrissey’s Debut Novel ‘List of the Lost’ Out This Fall
Nearly two years after Morrissey penned his revealing Autobiography, the singer’s words will hit bookshelves again this fall with List of the Lost, his debut novel. Morrissey fan site True to You reports that the British branch of Penguin Books will publish List of the Lost on paperback this September. No details regarding an American release have been announced.
“Morrissey’s first novel, List of the Lost, will be published by Penguin Books (UK) at the end of September. The book will be issued in softcover/paperback as a New Fiction title, and comes almost two years after Morrissey’s very successful Autobiography publication of October 2013,” True to You reported. “Penguin Books will confirm an on sale date within this coming week. List of the Lost will be available in the UK, Ireland, Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa.”
No plot details for List of the Lost were revealed and there is no listing for the novel yet on Penguin’s site. However, during a True to You fan chat in January 2014, Morrissey first revealed that he was working on a work of fiction after penning his memoir. “In 2013 I published my Autobiography and it has been more successful than any record I have ever released, so, yes, I am mid-way through my novel. I have my hopes,” the singer told fans.
In a recent interview for Larry King Now, Morrissey discussed Hillary Clinton, his run-in with the TSA and depression, but he didn’t mention his debut novel. However, the budding author did take shots at the current state of the music industry.
“It’s not really concerned with people who sing or people who play music,” Morrissey told King. “Because music appears to be dying and people have found other things to do, I think the major labels want to grab as much as they can as quickly as possible. Therefore, they watch those terrible talent things, those small children, and they sign them and they make quick money.”
