Watch Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande Lip Dub Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘I Really Like You’
Justin Bieber brought Carly Rae Jepsen to national attention in December 2011 when he tweeted his support for the singer’s biggest hit “Call Me Maybe.” Now, Bieber has enlisted Ariana Grande, former ‘NSync member Lance Bass, Empire star Bryshere Gray and Keeping Up With the Kardashians actor Kendall Jenner to create a lip dub video for the singer’s latest track, “I Really Like You.”
British pop quartet Rixton, South Korean K-pop star CL, The Voice contestant Kimberly Nichole and actor and Ariana’s brother Frankie Grande also lend a hand in the video, which finds the crew lip-syncing the song backstage at shows, hanging poolside and, in one instance, feigning shock at a false pregnancy announcement.
Bieber’s involvement in the video is slightly less hi-tech than Jepsen’s official video for the song, which found Tom Hanks lip-syncing the bubbly single and Bieber making a cameo at the end.
Jepsen and Hanks met at the wedding of Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun last year, and Braun is responsible for reuniting the pair in the upbeat clip for the bubbly single. “Scooter was telling the story [of the video] to Tom over dinner, and Tom apparently said ‘Why not me? Why didn’t you ask me?” Jepsen told Access Hollywood. “I got a call three days before Christmas from Scoots being like ‘Do you think Tom Hanks would do?'”
With Braun managing both Bieber and Jepsen, Bieber helped the “Call Me Maybe” singer earn the “Song of the Summer” in 2012. That same year, Jepsen opened for the “Boyfriend” singer on his Believe tour.
