Watch Julia Louis-Dreyfus Take Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Whisper Challenge’
Jimmy Fallon and Julia Louis-Dreyfus showed it’s not what you say, but how slowly and meticulously you say it during a giddy game of The Tonight Show‘s “Whisper Challenge” Wednesday night.
As the host noted, it’s technically more of a “lip reading” challenge, as player one — wearing headphones — tries to guess the random phrase said by player two. Louis-Dreyfus was tasked with guessing first, and with music blaring in the headphones, her attempts at parsing the phrase “Salted peanuts” were as inadvertently loud and hilariously uncouth as expected.
Fallon managed to steer clear of more vulgarity with the next phrase, “Uptown Funk You Up,” exclaiming, “You can’t say that!” before the wheels started turning and he managed to come up with the correct answer.
Louis-Dreyfus took a few stabs at “Hoda Kotb,” getting closest with her second guess, “Oh God, help me.” The Veep star closed out the game telling Fallon numerous times, “Wipe that smile off your face,” which, of course, he didn’t, as he tossed out everything from “Whippens Smithersworth” to “Women’s smelly overalls.”
Veep will return to HBO for its fourth season on April 12th. The network released the first trailer for the upcoming season, which finds Louis-Dreyfus’ character, Selina Meyer, navigating the perils of the Presidency, such as a suddenly blank teleprompter. Louis-Dreyfus has racked up three Emmys for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the show, and last year graced the Rolling Stone cover, discussing her remarkable journey from Saturday Night Live to Seinfeld to Veep.
