Watch Terry Crews Punch Out Mike Tyson on ‘Lip Sync Battle’
On paper, a battle between former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson and muscle factory/actor Terry Crews would be a title bout on the level of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. However, instead of stepping into the ring, the two behemoths had a showdown Thursday night in a much-friendlier arena: Lip Sync Battle. In the opening round, Iron Mike busted out with the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction,” while the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor countered with Run-D.M.C.’s “Sucker MCs.”
While Tyson was likely the crowd favorite going in – the fleet-footed boxer does an admirable impersonation of Mick Jagger’s onstage gyrations – Crews’ knack for physical comedy quickly won over the audience with his trademark pectoral bouncing. Round Two featured Crews’ White Girls-reprising selection of Vanessa Carlton’s piano-pop “A Thousand Miles,” complete with shirtless antics and ribbon dancing; Tyson countered with a pantomimed rendition of Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It.”
The Lip Sync Battle winner, by technical knockout (a.k.a. Chrissy Teigen’s decision), was Crews. Thankfully, these two heavyweights might be able to schedule a rematch as Spike announced that the series, inspired by Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show recurring bit, was renewed for a second season with 20 more episodes. Since debuting April 8th, Lip Sync Battle has quickly become the most watched original program in Spike’s history, averaging three million viewers per showdown. The new episodes of Lip Sync Battle will hit airwaves in 2016, The Hollywood Reporter writes.
Five episodes into the first season, we’ve already seen Fallon face off against the Rock, John Legend battle Common and Anne Hathaway deliver a perfect “Wrecking Ball.”
