Bill Murray Proves His Dating Game Is Smoother Than Tinder
Bill Murray doesn’t need Tinder to land a date – a fact he proved first-hand on Tuesday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The actor/purveyor of eternal wisdom was on-hand promoting the new film comedy St. Vincent – but in the above clip, Kimmel inquires about Murray’s knowledge of the dating app, which the actor discovered during the Winter Olympics but has never used. “I think it would be amusing,” he says with trademark droll excellence. “But I can’t imagine doing it particularly. I feel like I have lived that life, and I can live that life at any moment.” Murray then calls out to a photographer (“Dammit, I’m comin’ your way”) and pulls him onstage.
Elsewhere, their conversation drifts toward parenthood. In the below clip, Kimmel – father to a three-month old daughter – thanks Murray for previously offering him and his then-pregnant wife some spot-on advice earlier in the year, when Murray appeared on the show to promote Monuments Men. Following the actor’s word, Kimmel made his wife’s birthing experience more tolerable by bringing an oscillating fan and decking out the room with night lights. “I don’t know very much,” Murray admits, “but I talk a lot about what I do know. That’s really it.”
Murray also gifts the host with another parent pro-tip, telling Kimmel that when his daughter first experienced gas after eating solid food, he curbed her hysterical crying with peppermint. “I went and got a candy cane, like a Christmas candy cane,” Murray says, reliving his own parenting experience. “You just stick it in the kid’s mouth, and you can go back to sleep.”
