Dustin Lynch Goes With the Country Flow for Third Album
Just over a month removed from the release of his second album, Where It’s At, Dustin Lynch is already back at it, writing songs for his next release.
“I’m already dialed back in for chapter three. I like to have a couple years of writing and listening to songs before we go in an record them,” he tells Rolling Stone Country. “Country music is changing so quickly right now, so I’m just gonna do what I do and try to predict where it goes.”
If you read between the lines, you’ll realize that, like a good public relations person, the 29-year-old singer is trying to put an optimistic spin on the fact that he’s a bit obsessive about his career.
“I am a workaholic, I am,” he admits, as if he’s in a group of anonymous people publicly stating their issues. But that’s the way it goes for this up-and-coming artist who spends most of his days traveling city to city. Even when home, he’s a road warrior — at least in the figurative sense —essentially living from a suitcase.
“I have a closet full of clothes that I rotate in and out, but my suitcase is always open on my floor,” he reports.
The suitcase, however, should fit right in with all the boxes lying around the house. Lynch is far from a hoarder; he’s just never home, estimating that he’s gone at least three-quarters of every month.
“I’ve been living in my house for a year and a half, and I’m still not unpacked,” he says. “It’s that bad.”
Lynch plays Niceville, Florida’s Mullet Festival (no joke) tonight, followed by a packed calendar of fairs, festivals and headlining shows through the end of the year.
