Björk Plots Intimate ‘Vulnicura’ Shows in New York
Björk will release her new studio LP Vulnicura this March, and to celebrate the Icelandic singer has made plans to invade New York for six intimate concerts spread throughout the month at small venues like Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium and the New York City Center. Björk’s six-show New York residency kicks off March 7th, the same day the Museum of Modern Art will open the doors on their multimedia Björk exhibition.
“Yes! New York, here are your Vulnicura tour dates,” Björk wrote on Facebook. “They are for real! Hope you enjoy them!” She later tweeted, “I’m thrilled to tell you that [Arca] will be performing Vulnicura with me at the NY matinee shows! Exploding,” along with a photo of a string section practicing for the shows. The Venezuelan producer Arca co-wrote two tracks and produced six songs on Vulnicura, which also features production and mixing from the Haxan Cloak.
Tickets for the concerts go on sale to Björk Fan Club members on Monday, January 19th; a general public onsale will follow on January 23rd. Note that the March 28th and April 4th performances at City Center are both Saturday matinee gigs, meaning Björk will take the stage at noon. The other two City Center shows are scheduled for 8 p.m.
Björk’s long New York stay will culminate the weekend of June 5th with a performance at the Governors Ball festival. The Black Keys, Drake, Lana Del Rey and Deadmau5 will also be on hand for the annual Randall’s Island fest.
