Watch the Funniest News Bloopers of 2014
Another year, another onslaught of hilarious news broadcast bloopers. Thanks to the crew at NewsBeFunny (via Gawker), we can relive 2014’s most bizarre in-studio goof-ups, field reporter miscues, technological breakdowns and awkward interviews. F-bombs, prank calls, an outraged Mike Tyson – the past 12 months have raised the bar for news weirdness.
The pinnacle of any live TV broadcast is a verbal blunder, and there are an abundance of gems in the above clip. One anchor’s Valentine’s Day segment goes awry thanks to a Freudian slip (“If you’re making last-minute dinner plans, you may have a hard time getting in some of the titties”), and another reporter accidentally references the UConn Huskies basketball team as “2014 NAACP national champs.” In related news: “fuck truck,” “Fuckabee,” “slutty snow.”
Many priceless moments are found in the field, thanks to street-walking citizens desperate for their 15 minutes (or seconds) of local news fame. One brave woman licks a reporter’s head and one Rochester man offers a creative comparison for below-freezing temperatures: “I compare winter to be the Justin Bieber of seasons,” he says. “It was kind of cute and exciting when it first started out, and now it’s a bit obnoxious and should probably just stay in Canada.” There are also clips of a freaky unicorn, a Jack Sparrow look-alike and an impromptu kiss from Erykah Badu.
But the year’s funniest broadcast flub has to be Samuel L. Jackson erupting, Pulp Fiction-style, after a clueless interviewer confuses him with another famous African-American thespian, Laurence Fishburne. “We all don’t look alike!” Jackson yells. Check it out above.
