Watch Fallon and Michelle Obama Reunite for ‘Evolution of Mom Dancing Part 2’
Jimmy Fallon donned the mom wig once more on Thursday’s Tonight Show for the “Evolution of Mom Dancing Part Two.” First Lady Michelle Obama – on set promoting her Let’s Move kids fitness initiative’s “Gimme Five” challenge – joined the host to summarize the most awkward and hilarious maternal grooves in history.
The dances start out tame (the “Shimmy Twist,” the “Shush and Tush”) and get more surreal as the bit winds on – from the “Getting a Bag From Your Collection of Plastic Bags Under the Sink” and the clothing humble-brag “This Ol’ Thing? I Got it at Talbots” to the fumbled “One Move Behind in Zumba Class.” Fallon takes a cheap shot at the Commander-in-Chief with the awkwardly proper “Barack Obama,” but the First Lady returns the favor with the nerdy pointing of her “Jimmy Fallon.”
The duo’s first “Evolution of Mom Dancing,” from a 2013 episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, became a viral video hit thanks to mom-tastic moves like the “Happy Snapper,” the “Out of Sync Electric Slide” and the “Just the Hands Part of Single Ladies.”
Last year, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie bum-rushed the Tonight Show stage for a Father’s Day installment of the “Evolution of Dad Dancing.” Just like the mom version, this was the stuff of backyard barbecue and wedding reception nightmares – from the reliable “Lawn Mower” to the “Oh, Stop It! I’m Not Embarrassing You!”
