Watch the Nerve-Jangling Season Three Trailer for ‘Orphan Black’
Orphan Black‘s Season Two finale was one of Rolling Stone‘s 20 Best TV Moments of 2014 — and today, the cult BBC America sci-fi series offered up the first look at what’s in store when Season Three hits airwaves on April 19th.
The new episodes will pick up where last season’s shocking finale left off as Tatianna Maslany’s clone crew faces off against the replicants of Project Castor, a quartet of genetically engineered male clones that threaten the existence of the Project Leda girls. Season Three will also feature new cast additions like Shameless actor Justin Chatwin, True Blood‘s James Dominic Frain and Black Swan‘s Ksenia Solo.
On the series, Maslany expertly plays a batch of clones including a Canadian soccer mom, a Minnesotan microbiology student, a Ukrainian assassin and a German cyberpunk. “There are certain clones that are easier on my vocabulary or my movement or even dialect, but [soccer mom] Alison, I was so scared to play her. I couldn’t relate to her,” Maslany told Rolling Stone. “One of the creators said, ‘She’s the most feminine of the clones,’ and I was like, ‘What?’ For some reason, I had this sort of lock in my head on what it meant to be feminine. But I love all the characters. I feel really lucky that I get this whole gamut of women to play.”
