Watch the Black Keys’ Scorching ‘Austin City Limits’ Set
Austin City Limits‘ stellar 40th season continued Saturday night with a scorching set from the Black Keys, with the Akron, Ohio outfit performing six songs for their ACL episode: “Your Touch,” “Lonely Boy,” “Weight of Love,” “Fever,” Gotta Get Away” and “Little Black Submarine.”
On top of those six cuts, Rolling Stone premiered two more songs the Turn Blue crew played that didn’t make the episode: “Howlin’ for You” and “Too Afraid of Love.” Richmond, Virginia Southern rockers J. Roddy Walston and the Business also delivered a set on last night’s Austin City Limits.
The televised Austin City Limits performance represents the last time fans will get to see the duo live for the next few months: In January, the Black Keys were forced to cancel their upcoming 17-date European tour due to a shoulder injury drummer Patrick Carney sustained while vacationing in Saint-Barthélemy. (The Black Keys filmed their ACL gig in November prior to Carney’s injury.)
The Black Keys also had to nix their appearance at the all-star MusiCares Person of the Year tribute concert to Bob Dylan in Los Angeles on February 6th, two days before the Grammys where the band are nominated for three awards. Barring any more setbacks, the Black Keys’ next scheduled gig is an April 2nd show in Brisbane that kicks off their Australasian tour.
Austin City Limits‘ impressive 40th season has so far featured Beck, Ryan Adams and Jenny Lewis, Spoon, new Rolling Stone cover star Sam Smith, Nine Inch Nails, Tweedy, Future Islands, Ed Sheeran and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Foo Fighters will next perform on the February 7th episode of Austin City Limits, which recently announced its first three tapings of Season 41: The War on Drugs, Asleep at the Wheel and Sturgill Simpson.
