Kanye West, Drake, Big Sean Count ‘Blessings’ in New Video
Big Sean‘s cameo-heavy, extended version of “Blessings” has now received a similarly star-studded video treatment. Alongside Drake and mentor Kanye West, Sean takes himself to church in the new black-and-white clip.
Sean plays both priest and sinner in the gloomy, stormy video, which complements the title of his latest album Dark Sky Paradise. With eyes and fingers pointing to the sky, he praises his life and opportunities alongside Drake, West and a white-clad dancer, though all three rappers never appear on-screen together.
West confirmed that he had filmed a new video with Sean and Drake during his emotional interview with BBC Radio’s Zane Lowe. “I couldn’t have been happier to go and shoot this video with two of the hottest rappers in the game,” said West. “Well, let’s be respectful and truthful: the hottest rapper and one of the hottest rappers in the game. And I fall somewhere in that field.”
While West did not detail who he thought was the hottest rapper of the two, he presumably meant Drake, who is still riding high off the successful release of his surprise mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Later in the Lowe interview, West spent a moment to discuss Drake’s success and quick rise to the top. “I feel like I’m a visual extension of what he’s doing sonically,” he noted. “[Drake] is delivering a level of product to humanity that is of high quality. It works.”
“Blessings” is the third single off Big Sean‘s third studio album Dark Sky Paradise, following “Paradise” and the hit “I Don’t Fuck With You.” While Drake only appears once on the album, West drops verses on “All Your Fault” and “One Man Can Change the World,” the latter featuring vocals from Oscar winner John Legend.
