‘The Simpsons’ Plan Music-Themed Mini-Marathon on FXX
Last month, FXX celebrated their acquisition of The Simpsons by airing a 12-day marathon of all 552 episodes – destroying the network’s ratings records in the process. And now, assuming the country isn’t suffering from Simpsons fatigue, FXX is following with a music-themed, eight-episode marathon of the animated series starting at 8 p.m. on September 11th.
As Variety reports, the mini-marathon is connected to the upcoming “Simpsons Take the Bowl” variety shows at the Hollywood Bowl, which will take place from September 12th-14th. Each of the eight episodes (including classics like the Conan O’Brien-scripted “Marge vs. the Monorail” and “Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part 2”) all feature a tune set to be showcased during the Hollywood Bowl shows.
“Simpsons Take the Bowl” will celebrate all things Springfield – assisted by a live orchestra, video clips, appearances from Simpsons voice actors (including Hank Azaria) and a number of special guests (including Beverly D’Angelo, Jon Lovitz and “Weird” Al Yankovic). Series creator Matt Groening will be on hand to dish out behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and O’Brien will even join the cast to perform “The Monorail Song” from his acclaimed 1993 episode.
The Simpsons‘ 26th season will premiere September 28th on Fox with the heavily anticipated Family Guy crossover episode, “The Simpsons Guy.”
