Hear Parquet Courts Tear Through ‘Duckn’ & Dodgin” at Third Man Records
Last June, Parquet Courts visited the Nashville studios of Third Man Records, playing tracks from Sunbathing Animal and 2013’s Tally All The Things That You Broke for a small, sweaty crowd. The set was recorded directly to acetate, and tomorrow, it will be released as the group’s first live album. Below, listen to the opening track, a breathless, uptempo performance of “Duckn’ & Dodgin’.”
Reached via e-mail, label co-founder Ben Swank offered nothing but praise for Parquet Courts, calling them “one of the few universally loved bands throughout the entire Third Man Records compound.”
“What can be said about these hardscrabble but lovable poetic punk-rock dreamboats?” he writes. “Did they arrive on a sweltering sea of media triumph for the just released album Sunbathing Animal? Indeed they did. Did they lay bombastic waste, albeit coupled with stretched out lovely and dynamic melodic noise sections, to the Third Man stage whilst a blue-lit room full of dewey-eyed fanatics gawped at the stage in stunned rapture? Again, this is also true. But most importantly, they won our hearts and minds with their shock and awe and demure gentlemanly manner.”
Listen to it all happen on the Parquet Courts: Live at Third Man Records LP, which can be pre-ordered here.
