Brooklyn trio Nude Beach's third album closes with a harmony-charged ballad called "If We Only Had the Time" – and you can't help but feel the band might actually be lamenting the fact that it didn't have room to fit in even more material. At 18 tracks and 68 minutes, 77 initially gives the impression that some songs should've been 86'ed. But spend time exploring this overflowing double album, and new pleasures keep jumping out: the Byrds-y "I'm Not Like You," the power-pop treasure "Can't Get Enough," the Tom Petty-in-a-garage-ish "I Can't Keep the Tears From Falling" and many others. Nude Beach have such a knack for scruffed-up guitar pop, it's hard to begrudge them their excess.
