Bjork Announces New Album ‘Vulnicura’
Björk will release her first album in four years this March when the Icelandic singer unveils her Vulnicura. The Homogenic singer made the new album announcement in a handwritten note that she posted on her social media. The LP is her first since her 2011 Grammy-nominated Biophilia.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am very proud to announce my new album is coming out in March. It is called: Vulnicura,” she wrote. The singer also listed Vulnicura‘s song titles: “Stonemilker”, “Lionsong”, “History of Touches”, “Black Lake”, “Family”, “Notget”, “Atom Dance”, “Mouth Mantra”, and “Quicksand”.
Björk added that she had written six of Vulnicura‘s nine tracks by herself, with two co-written by Yeezus and FKA Twigs producer Arca and another co-penned by Mark Flynn. Björk, Arca and British dance producer the Haxan Cloak worked on the album’s production, while the Haxan Cloak did most of the mixing. Björk handled the string arrangements herself.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Björk would be performing at this year’s Governors Ball in New York, a hint that the singer likely had a new album afoot.
In addition to Vulnicura, March will also see the opening of Björk’s Museum of Modern Art exhibition in New York. Titled Björk, the exhibition will feature a visual narrative of the singer’s career as well as a deeply engaging 3-D film from director Andrew Huang.
“Björk is an extraordinarily innovative artist whose contributions to contemporary music, video, film, fashion and art have had a major impact on her generation worldwide,” MoMA’s Chief Curator at Large, Klaus Biesenbach said in a statement. “This highly experimental exhibition offers visitors a direct experience of her hugely collaborative body of work.”
