‘Jurassic World”s Indominus Rex Wreaks Havoc in Final Trailer
With under a week left until the gates to Jurassic World open, a final trailer for the highly-anticipated reboot has arrived, offering some thrilling new footage of Chris Pratt and his delightfully destructive dinosaur friends and enemies.
Though much of the trailer comprises clips from previously released teasers, it opens with something new: A park employee trying to snare a loose pig and falling into a raptor pit. Pratt, of course, jumps to the rescue, mind-melding with the snarling animals and putting them off their potential prey. “You ever wonder why there was a job opening?” he asks the employee.
The next two minutes once again play up the premise of Jurassic World, in which the park’s owners institute a genetic modification initiative that leads to bigger, badder and more alluring dinosaurs. That plan, however, backfires when the biggest and baddest beast — the “Indominus Rex” — escapes and begins killing for sport.
The trailer is rife with action and mayhem, but it also highlights the moments of quiet tension — such as a drop of blood falling onto a soldier’s wrist, or Pratt peering around Jeep to see the dinosaur’s monstrous foot — that were hallmarks of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. Still, nothing compares to Pratt racing out on a motorcycle, surrounded by his cadre of velociraptors, all in hot pursuit of the Indominus Rex.
Another new Jurassic World teaser, centered around the Indominus Rex hatching from its egg, is available to watch below.
Jurassic World opens June 12th. It was directed by Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Rick Connolly. Along with Pratt, the film stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio and BD Wong.
