Brad Paisley Shares ‘Me and Jesus’ for Ebola-Stricken Doctor
Perennial prankster Brad Paisley has been teasing fans — and irking his record label — by previewing tracks from his upcoming Moonshine in the Trunk album weeks before the disc’s official release on August 26th. The fun and games, however, have taken a more serious turn with the latest track to be shared by the country superstar.
Paisley posted a tweet over the weekend which read “Pray for Dr. Kent Brantly — one of those brave souls who risks his life to save others.” Dr. Brantly has been in the news since he contracted the deadly Ebola virus while working in Liberia with a charity that treats infected patients.
In a follow-up tweet just a minute later, Paisley shared the new song “Me and Jesus,” dedicating it to Dr. Brantly. (Hear it below.) “I’m moved by the Christian Dr. Fighting Ebola who gave the serum to his friend,” the singer tweeted. “So here’s a bonus track. For him.”
Initially it was reported that since there was only enough of an experiemental serum, Brantley had refused it so that another American infected with the virus, Nancy Writebol, could receive it. According to subsequent reports, however, Brantly did receive a dose of the serum. On Sunday, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Brantly “seems to be improving.”
“Me and Jesus” was not among the 14 songs recently revealed on the Moonshine in the Trunk track list. But according to his website, Paisley has since added it as a bonus track.
