McCain Retreats from Michigan
According to Politico.com the McCain campaign has pulled out of Michigan.
For much of the political season, Michigan appeared to be the only big state where McCain could play offense in Kerry country.
The McCain camp is now in a defensive posture, with almost no wiggle room, as former red state Iowa is now firmly in the Obama column.
If Obama defends Kerry country and flips Virginia — forget Florida or Ohio — that’s the election. Which explains why the McCain camp is staffing a dozen new offices in the commonwealth.
But even that leaves Obama with another entirely plausible path to the presidency, running through a combo of Colorado and New Mexico.
There’s an eternity to go in this election, but the road ahead looks tough for McCain.
